MPS Antiracism Committee Envisioning an Equitable Mental Health Crisis Response Friday, May 6th Register today!
The Massachusetts Psychiatric Society (MPS) will host its annual Psychotherapy Conference on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. virtually via Zoom.
Society continues to grapple with the ways in which our systems reinforce racial biases and limit access to historically oppressed communities. It is within this context that, as demand for mental health services swell, mental health crisis response is in the spotlight. Government and community investment is being made to improve crisis services, and it is imperative that Massachusetts convene stakeholders to ensure that the system we build together meets the needs of all of its residents. This conference will challenge psychiatrists and our professional colleagues to consider equitable, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches to mental health crisis intervention. Voices of patients, patient-advocates, and families will be centered in dialogue with other stakeholders across this system. Ethical and racial considerations around the use of involuntary treatment will be highlighted and applied to case examples and current events. Participants will be provided with the knowledge and impetus to make important changes in care provision and advocate for systemic change.
$90 MPS/APA members $20 Residents/Fellows/Students $110 Non-members
