Adult and Child-Adolescent Psychiatrist

McLean Hospital, America’s top ranked freestanding psychiatric hospital, is inviting applications for adult and child-adolescent psychiatrists for the McLean SouthEast (MSE) campus in Middleborough, MA.

Adult Psychiatrist positions include inpatient staff psychiatrist and medical directors for two new units:

  • A psychotic disorders inpatient unit that will be a key component of the McLean Psychotic Disorders Division, led by Dost Ongur, M.D., Ph.D. (editor of JAMA Psychiatry, Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Chief, McLean Psychotic Disorders Division) and Joe Stoklosa, M.D. (Clinical Director of the McLean Psychotic Disorders Division and proponent of innovative Open Dialogue rounds).
  • A depression-anxiety disorders unit that will treat people experiencing suicidality and life crises, and will be a key component of the McLean Depression, Anxiety and Trauma Division led by Kerry Ressler, M.D., Ph.D. ( McLean’s Chief Scientific Officer and Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School) and Jane Eisen, M.D. (Clinical Director of the McLean Depression, Anxiety, and Trauma Division and Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School).
  • These two units will be closely integrated with each other and with existing McLean SouthEast (MSE) adult inpatient and partial hospital services and will include clinical measurement initiatives and related research. 

Child -Adolescent Psychiatrist positions include inpatient staff psychiatrists on a new adolescent unit: 

  • This unit will be part of the extensive McLean Child & Adolescent Division, led by Dr. Joseph Gold, McLean’s Chief Medical Officer, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, that includes McLean’s child and adolescent inpatient unit and young children’s CBAT at the Franciscan Children’s Hospital, the 3East Intensive DBT continuum at Germaine Lawrence, the McLean Arlington School, a therapeutic high school, Pathways Academy for students with high-functioning autism, the Belmont adolescent partial hospital, the McLean OCD Institute for children and adolescents, the McLean Anxiety Mastery Program (MAMP) and other outpatient clinics at Sancta Maria, school consultation programs, and the existing MSE set of services. The latter already include an adolescent acute residential treatment (ART) unit, an adolescent partial hospital, our MA child psychiatry access project (MCPAP) site providing consultative support to pediatricians in Southeastern MA, the Cape & Islands, and a school nurse program.
  • This new McLean SouthEast (MSE) adolescent unit will be well integrated with these other Child & Adolescent Division programs and MSE services and will work closely with Daniel Dickstein, M.D., Ph.D., McLean’s Director of Research, Child & Adolescent Division, Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, who will be central to shaping the clinical measurement at this site. 

These positions combine clinical care and teaching, with Harvard Medical School appointments.We encourage both Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry trained candidates to apply. Salary and recruitment package in accordance with Hospital policies, and a Harvard Medical School (HMS) appointment at the academic rank of Lecturer, Instructor or Assistant Professor will be commensurate with HMS appointment criteria, meeting the minimum teaching requirement, and candidate qualifications.

 AMBULATORY PSYCHIATRY POSITION  

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a 650+ bed tertiary care teaching affiliated with Harvard Medical School, is recruiting for a part time ambulatory psychiatrist to provide general psychiatry and psycho-pharmacology services at our flagship community health center in Dorchester. The successful candidate for this position may be considered for a Harvard Medical School appointment at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor, Part-Time, commensurate with experience, achievements and teaching contributions  

The Bowdoin Street Health Center is a multi-specialty practice serving the Bowdoin-Geneva community. We provide comprehensive primary care and behavioral health services, and are staffed by 12 medical providers as well as five clinical social workers and two part- time psychiatrists. Our behavioral health department is highly collaborative and is very committed to meeting patient need. In addition, the behavioral health department is fully integrated within the health center as a whole and there is ample opportunity for close collaboration with the primary care providers.

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, a 650+ bed tertiary care teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, is recruiting highly qualified staff psychiatrists. The Department of Psychiatry is a major teaching site for Harvard Medical School and the BIDMC Harvard Psychiatry Residency Training Program; positions will include opportunities for teaching medical students and residents and for faculty development. A Harvard Medical School appointment at the rank of instructor, assistant, or associate professor may be commensurate with the level of accomplishment and dependent upon fulfilling teaching requirements. Opportunities exist on the following services with the possibility of combining work on different services to make a full- or part-time position:

AMBULATORY PSYCHIATRY
This part-time position involves clinical care and opportunities to participate in the training of psychiatric residents. The clinical care involves psychiatric evaluations and ongoing treatment of outpatients in our general psychiatry clinic located within the medical center.

CONSULTATION-LIAISON PSYCHIATRY
This part-time position involves clinical care, teaching, and supervision and combines coverage of inpatient CL and ED. The service sees 2500 Emergency Department and 1000 Inpatient Medical-Surgical consultations annually. Certification (or eligibility) in Psychosomatic Medicine is desirable.

INPATIENT PSYCHIATRY SERVICE
This full-time position includes clinical care, teaching, and supervision on an active 25 bed inpatient teaching unit.

MOONLIGHTING
Attending psychiatrists or fellows for weekend and holiday coverage of the inpatient psychiatry unit and/or the CL/ED service. Coverage includes onsite morning rounds and telephone backup to the resident after finishing onsite work. Must have a full Massachusetts license.

NEUROPSYCHIATRY
This part-time position is for a neuropsychiatrist who will be part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Cognitive Neurology Unit.
