 STAFF CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIST

McLean Hospital, America’s top ranked freestanding psychiatric hospital, is seeking a full-time staff child and adolescent psychiatrist to join at our acute residential and partial hospitals in Middleborough, Massachusetts.  

Our multidisciplinary team provides first-class treatment to adolescents and their families in an exciting environment including Harvard-affiliated psychiatry, psychology, and social work trainees, plus opportunities for research and academic pursuits. 

As part of our expanding team, the staff child and adolescent psychiatrist will have the opportunity for professional collaboration with colleagues at our recently opened adolescent inpatient psychiatric unit, and inclusion in Division-wide programs at the main Belmont campus, Arlington, and Cambridge.

Salary and recruitment package in accordance with Hospital policies, and a Harvard Medical School appointment at the academic rank of Lecturer, Instructor or Assistant Professor will be contingent on meeting the requirements for an HMS appointment and candidate qualifications including Massachusetts medical license and being board certified/board eligible in child and adolescent psychiatry.

Job opening for Adult Inpatient Medical Director – Epstein Center for Behavioral Health

 The Department of Psychiatry at Salem Hospital, in affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital (Mass General), has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director of an adult inpatient psychiatry unit at the Epstein Center for Behavioral Health.

The Epstein Center for Behavioral Health is a 120-bed inpatient facility that includes two adult units, one child and adolescent unit, and one geriatric unit, embedded in a full-service medical center. Each unit includes a team of social workers and a psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to support physicians, optimize workflow, and improve patient care. There is a dedicated medical team, the Epstein Medical Service, that rounds daily and is available to support the psychiatrists in providing the highest quality medical care to psychiatric patients. 

The Medical Director of the adult psychiatric unit provides clinical and administrative leadership to the service in addition to providing direct clinical care. This includes oversight of other physicians, supervision of a nurse practitioner, oversight of the admissions process, leading quality improvement, and generally setting a high standard of care.

The Department of Psychiatry at Mass General is consistently ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News and World Report and works with Salem Hospital as a community partner.  There are multiple opportunities for teaching on-site, and a Tufts Medical School faculty appointment is available for physicians who participates in medical student teaching. There are also educational and research opportunities on-site and at Mass General and Harvard Medical School for the appropriate interested candidate.

Salaries are extremely competitive. Evening and weekend call are very reasonable and provide significant additional compensation.

ATTENDING POSITIONS IN PSYCHIATRY AT MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL

The Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Psychiatry has outstanding attending opportunities in several practice settings.  Part- and full-time positions are available in our Primary Care Psychiatry outpatient clinics, on our substance use disorder teams, in psychiatric and medical subspecialty outpatient groups, and on our emergency psychiatry service. Opportunities in our affiliated community health centers are also available.

Staff Psychiatrist/Physician in Charge Position at

McLean Fernside

Princeton, MA 

McLean Hospital, America’s top ranked freestanding psychiatric hospital, has an exceptional Full or Part Time opportunity available for a Staff Psychiatrist – Physician in Charge (PIC) at McLean Fernside, located in a lovely Princeton, MA setting. The successful candidate will provide care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team that includes psychologists, social workers and nursing staff within its 9-bed, 30-day residential program for substance use disorders and other co-occurring mental health disorders.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Providing psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Formulating individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses.
  • Conducts routine forensic evaluations (e.g., commitment, guardianship); and directs the ongoing care of patients.
  • Providing clinical services including pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy.
  • Communicating with other providers of mental health and medical services as appropriate.
  • Maintaining contact with family members as appropriate.
  • Documenting the completion of treatment plans, patient encounter forms, appropriate progress notes, clinical summaries, and other documentation in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Providing interface with payers and managed care organizations through the completion of timely and effective reviews and necessary authorizations.
  • Participating in program and hospital administrative activities (e.g., staff meetings, CQI, hospital committees, etc.).
  • Maintaining awareness of medicolegal/risk management issues.
  • Participating in the hospital teaching and research efforts of trainees and staff 

Qualifications include:

  • M.D. degree (or equivalent as confirmed by ECFMG)
  • 3 to 4 years formal residency education in a program approved by the RRC of the ACGME.
  • License to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of MA.
  • Board certification in addiction psychiatry preferred, but general psychiatry applicants with experience treating SUD patients also welcome to apply.
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration and Federal DEA Certificates.
  • Must be board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Adult Psychiatry, or by a comparable foreign national certifying organization.
