Trauma Continuum of Care – Partial Hospital and Outpatient Treatment

Staff Psychiatrist Position at McLean Hospital

Full Time or Part Time

McLean Hospital, America’s top-ranked psychiatric hospital, is inviting applications for a staff psychiatrist with roles providing both partial hospital and outpatient care.

The Trauma Continuum of Care

Who We Serve

McLean Hospital’s Trauma Continuum Partial Hospital and Outpatient Program offers psychiatric and psychological services for adults (18 years of age or older) who have histories of trauma, and are diagnosed with a trauma-related disorder, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and/or dissociative disorders, including Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).

Partial Hospital Services

The focus of partial hospital treatment includes establishing stability through the acquisition and application of grounding techniques, education, and connection with others who share lived experience. Treatment is informed by evidence-based therapies and interventions designed for treating PTSD and related problems. The group-based treatment program is designed for individuals who need more structure and intensive treatment than can be received from outpatient treatment alone. Additionally, the program serves as an adjunct to individual therapy or as a support during transition from inpatient hospitalization to one’s home environment.

Outpatient Services

Our Outpatient Program offers adjunctive, time-limited, evidence-based, individual and group psychotherapy as well as medication management services. Outpatient services focus on processing and improving trauma-related thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as well as reconnecting with important relationships and resuming meaningful activities. A prerequisite for trauma-focused treatment at the outpatient level is the ability to maintain safety and stability and the effective use of grounding and self-regulation skills.

The Staff Psychiatrist position will combine clinical care and teaching of residents and fellows, with Harvard Medical School appointments.

Salary and recruitment package in accordance with Hospital policies, and a Harvard Medical School appointment at the academic rank of Lecturer, Instructor or Assistant Professor (full or part time) will be contingent on meeting the requirements for an HMS appointment and candidate qualifications including Massachusetts medical license, and being board certified/board eligible.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest and curriculum vitae along with the names and addresses of three references to the Search Committee Chair by email:

Matthew Robinson, Ph.D., Program Director, McLean Hospital, 115 Mill Street, Belmont, MA 02478 [email: [email protected] and the Registrar and Professional Staff Office at [email protected]
