The Tufts Medical Center Department of Psychiatry is recruiting for a major academic position as Vice Chairman of Training and Education and Director of the General Adult Psychiatry Training Program at Tufts Medical Center, the principal teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM).  In addition to the General Adult Psychiatry, our department has a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship and one of only nine Triple Board programs nationwide.  Research and scholarly interests of the faculty include among others mood disorders, medical psychiatric illness psychiatric systems of care, psychiatric treatment in the workplace, psychiatric education, psychopharmacology, and inflammation. The department also oversees basic science and core clinical clerkships for TUSM at multiple academic, community and public sector settings. Reporting to the Chairman of Psychiatry for Tufts Medical Center and TUSM, the Vice Chair is a key academic leader for the department. 

Tufts Medical Center is outstanding as a center of academic and clinical excellence that treats the most complex and difficult illness mix in Boston, including major tertiary care programs in cardiovascular and the neurosciences among others. ECT and Neurostimulation Psychiatrist (part- or full-time)

The Tufts Medical Center Department of Psychiatry is recruiting for a part-time adult psychiatrist to evaluate patients for and provide electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). There is an opportunity for this position to become full-time as a Director for ECT and neurostimulation services with a focus on patients with treatment-resistant illness.

Tufts Medical Center is the principal teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM). Our department has a strong tradition of clinical and academic excellence, with expertise in medical psychiatry, psychopharmacology, and integrative psychiatry. Nurse Practitioner at Tewksbury Hospital

Tufts Medical Center is hiring a Nurse Practitioner at Tewksbury Hospital, Hathorne Units, located 20 miles North of Boston. Tewksbury Hospital provides therapeutic environment to provide patient focused medical and psychiatric care and diagnostic services meet the needs of patients with complex chronic psychological or social needs. Tewksbury Hospital is in the process of becoming the model facility for providing recovery oriented, trauma informed, family focused, person centered and strength based clinical and rehabilitative treatment.  Massachusetts Mental Health Center & Vinfen seeking a Full Time Psychologist in Boston  

 Job Description:  

Vinfen, in conjunction with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the Massachusetts Mental Health Center (MMHC), a state operated mental health clinic, is seeking a full-time licensed psychologist to join the transitional aged youth and Prevention and Recovery in Early Psychosis (PREP) Programs at their vibrant young adult community clinic. The psychologist would provide services to a culturally and economically diverse population of individuals ages 16-30, some of whom are experiencing the recent onset of a psychotic disorder. Responsibilities include performing cognitive, psychological, and psychosocial needs assessments, individual psychotherapy, and group treatment. The majority of individuals served have a serious and persistent mental illness and most predominant are psychotic, mood, and substance use disorders; trauma and attachment-related difficulties are also commonly treated. Candidates who possess substantial knowledge and experience conducting cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and psychosocial rehabilitation with this population, as well as those who have experience treating young adults and families in complex systems of care including DCF will be strongly preferred. This psychology position would be part of a well-established multi-disciplinary team, administratively embedded in the Massachusetts DMH.  

 The MMHC is affiliated with the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Department of Psychiatry.  This position will provide opportunities for teaching and supervision along with appointment as Instructor or Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School. Opportunities to provide supervision of psychology interns within our APA-accredited pre-doctoral psychology internship are available.  

Scheduled hours: Mon- Fri. 8:30a-5p

Preferred Qualifications:  

 Licensed as a psychologist in Massachusetts

  • Three to five years of clinical experience.
  • Knowledge and experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness in a dynamic community setting
  • Knowledge and experience conducting cognitive and psychological assessments
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience and interest in treating individuals from underserved/underrepresented groups including those whom are homeless and forensically involved
  • All candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age and be able to successfully pass a CORI, reference and multi-state background and professional licensure check.

The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of program development, innovation, leadership, especially as an agent of change, as well as a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across multiple specialties.  Overall knowledge of Behavioral Health delivery models, standards of care as well as a deep understanding of integrative behavioral health is essential.  Exceptional clinical and interpersonal abilities are required as well as the ability to develop strong working relationships with both clinical and non-clinical staff.  7-10 years of progressive management and leadership experience in a large, multi-site delivery system as well as an advanced degree and familiarity with teaching programs and clinical research is preferred.

DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY – NORTH SHORE MEDICAL CENTER

The Department of Psychiatry at North Shore Medical Center (NSMC), in affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital (Mass General), has an outstanding full-time opportunity at the Epstein Center for Behavioral Health at for a BC/BE psychiatrist who is interested in adult inpatient psychiatry.

The Epstein Center for Behavioral Health is a newly renovated 120-bed inpatient facility that opened in October 2019. It includes two adult units, one child and adolescent unit, and one geriatric unit, in a full-service medical center. Each unit has a team of social workers and a psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to support physicians, optimize workflow, and improve patient care.

Physician caseloads on the inpatient units are very reasonable, with generally 8-10 patients seen daily. The model for medical care is unique, with a medical service that is dedicated to the Epstein Center and collaborates closely with the psychiatrist.

For the candidate who is interested in outpatient care, there is an opportunity to combine inpatient work with caring for patients in the outpatient department.

There is a strong educational ethos in the department, with multiple CME conferences, teaching opportunities, and a culture of lifelong learning and development. Tufts Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professionals faculty appointments are available. There are also educational and research opportunities at Mass General and Harvard Medical School for the appropriate interested candidate.

Qualified candidates are eligible for a clinical appointment at both NSMC and Massachusetts General Hospital. The Department of Psychiatry at Mass General is consistently ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News and World Report and works with NSMC as a community partner.
