MPS 2021 Risk Avoidance & Risk Management Conference
is April 10!  Register today!

The Massachusetts Psychiatric Society (MPS) will host its annual Risk Avoidance and Risk Management Conference on Saturday, April 10, 2021, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. virtually.

This is the annual risk management conference with a successful record spanning decades. The conference focuses on actual issues faced by practicing psychiatrists. Each year core faculty review timely and relevant risk management issues in conjunction with other invited local experts. We utilize several didactic lectures with significant time for questions raised by conference attendees. This year topics addressed will include: Dr. Janet Wozniak addressing risk management issues in the practice of telepsychiatry; Dr. Thomas Gutheil will review the practice of appropriately addressing informed consent and shifting regulatory requirements; Attorney David Gould will address the issue of psychiatrists managing actions by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine; our own Attorney James Hilliard will enlighten us with the top risk management questions and issues raised by membership for 2021; Attorney Steve O’Neill will give direction on navigating the new world of open notes in medical practice; and Dr. Nhi-Ha Trinh will present on the emerging focus on cultural competence and implicit bias, and strategies for self-assessment and practice improvement. Each speaker will have a significant block of dedicated time for facilitated questions from the participants.
